Highlighting Our Spring Share Your Shutters Winner05/08/2017Curtis Orton Spring is blowing by here in San Jose, but don’t think we forgot about our regularly scheduled Share Your Shutters contest. Spring’s contest winner is Tonya S., who submitted a few photos of her home that truly capture what shutters can do for a room. Tonya’s house features some gorgeous new Polywood® plantation shutters in the dining room. Because those shutters are closed, you can really get a look at how well plantation shutters can really help you control light. Envision that dining room with some softer lighting; it would be a picture-perfect setting for a romantic candlelit dinner, right? With plantation shutters in your space, you can express that exact mood no matter the time of day. Take a look at how the white shutters flawlessly match the white trim on the baseboard and the white ceiling. Those matching neutrals let the black table and the hardwood floor’s texture shine even more. But that wasn’t her only photo submission. She also shared a photo of her brand-new sliding barn door shutter! We love this barn door shutter for a lot of reasons. The first reason is that it looks fantastic. The homespun aesthetic of the wood panel with that sleek black frame above give an enduring yet cozy look. What we like even more than the looks is the practicality of the shutter. Her barn door shutter sits on the front of the window frame, so it can effectively block light while still allowing the window to operate.Since her shutter sits outside the frame, Tonya can still use her window sill. For instance, if she wanted to set a plant on the sill to get sunlight, she could even close the shutter so it can catch some rays while keeping her home dim if she likes.Tonya tells us that this is the third time she’s chosen window treatments from Sunburst Shutters, and we want to thank her for repeatedly choosing us for all her shutter and window treatment needs. For winning our quarterly Share Your Shutters contest, Tonya will receive a $100 gift card to a restaurant in her area. Are your new shutters beautiful enough to be featured here? We want to see them! Share a photo of your favorite room with shutters with the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or submit a photo to our Facebook page. We’d love to feature some shutters from a Californian in our next update!Or if Tonya’s photos make you think your home is missing something, we want to help.
